About Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow reimagines Washington Irving's classic tale as a modern supernatural thriller. Ichabod Crane, a soldier who served under General George Washington during the Revolutionary War, falls in battle after beheading a mysterious Hessian horseman, only to awaken more than two centuries later in present-day Sleepy Hollow, New York. He quickly learns that his old foe has risen as well, now revealed to be one of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Disoriented by the modern world, Ichabod is taken into custody and crosses paths with Lieutenant Abbie Mills, a sharp local police officer who has had her own brush with the supernatural. Together they uncover a hidden war between good and evil that stretches back to the founding of the nation, learning that they are the two Witnesses prophesied to stand against the coming apocalypse. Their unlikely partnership becomes the heart of the series as they battle demons, ghosts, and ancient curses.
Across four seasons the show blends history, horror, and a touch of dry humor, mixing American folklore with biblical end-times mythology. The series leans heavily on the chemistry between its leads and on a steady parade of monstrous threats drawn from legend and scripture. After moving its setting in its final season, Sleepy Hollow concluded its run in 2017 and remains a cult favorite for its mash-up of genres.
