About Threesome
Threesome is a Swedish comedy-drama created by Lisa Linnertorp that premiered on Viaplay in 2021 and is set largely among the expatriate scene in London. The series follows Siri and David, a young Swedish couple who have been together for seven years and whose comfortable relationship is thrown into chaos after a spontaneous, drunken threesome with a charismatic stranger. What begins as a one-night impulse rapidly forces both partners to confront questions about desire, monogamy and the unspoken compromises that have quietly accumulated over the course of their twenties.
Filmed in English with a largely international cast, the show leans into the messy emotional fallout rather than the titillation of its premise. Siri, a driven student of law and international relations, and David, who drifts through a telemarketing job, find that the encounter exposes how differently each of them has come to imagine the future. The arrival of Camille, a French fine-arts graduate student, complicates matters further, turning a single mistake into an ongoing entanglement that none of them quite knows how to name or end.
Across two seasons and sixteen episodes, Threesome balances frank sex comedy with a tender study of jealousy, ambition and the difficulty of being honest with the people closest to you. The first season aired on Viaplay, while the second arrived on SVT Play in 2024 after distribution shifts within the Nordic streaming market. The series earned attention as part of a wave of bolder, English-language Nordic productions aimed at travelling beyond Scandinavia, and drew comparisons to other relationship-driven comedies about modern intimacy.
