About Wandance
Wandance is a coming-of-age anime adapted from the manga by Coffee, which has been serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon since 2019. The story follows Kaboku Kotani, a quiet high school freshman who has lived with a stutter for as long as he can remember and who has grown used to keeping his feelings to himself. His careful, guarded world begins to shift the day he watches a classmate dancing alone in an empty classroom, completely absorbed and unafraid of being seen.
That classmate is Hikari Wanda, an expressive, free-spirited dancer whose movement seems to say everything words cannot. Drawn to the honesty of her dancing, Kaboku works up the courage to ask her to teach him, and he joins the school's dance club. What starts as a tentative experiment becomes a genuine pursuit, as Kaboku discovers that dance offers him a language for emotions he has never been able to voice aloud.
Animated by Madhouse together with Cyclone Graphics, Wandance pairs grounded character drama with energetic, music-driven dance sequences. The twelve-episode series, directed by Michiya Kato, aired in Japan from October to December 2025 and follows Kaboku and Hikari alongside their clubmates as they prepare to perform, navigate self-doubt, and learn what it means to express themselves fully through their bodies.
